The Keeper
The one who makes them
Hello. I'm glad you found your way here.
I make Letters from the Between by hand, at a table in Co. Down, with the same few things every month: My trusty printer, paper, my cricut machine, wax, and stories I have loved my whole life.
I grew up on Ireland's old tales, the ones full of love, defiance, grief and weather. It always seemed a shame to me that we mostly meet them now as summaries, or as names half-remembered from school. They were never meant to be read that way. They were meant to be lived with, slowly, a little at a time, the way you live with people.
So I began writing them out as letters. Not a book about the story, but the story itself, in the hands of the people inside it. I write each one on my laptop, illustrate it on iPad, print it, cut it, fold it and seal it myself. When a letter reaches you, it has passed through no one's hands but mine and the postman's.
Co. Down sits in the north of the island of Ireland, Northern Ireland. Your letters are posted from here, from the very ground these stories grew in.
It is a small operation, one person and a great deal of wax. That is on purpose. It means every letter is truly made, not manufactured. And it means that when you subscribe, you are not buying a product from a company. You are letting me tell you a story, the old way.
I'm so glad you are here.
